Personality:
Deejay is a pleasant guy to be around overall, if only a bit strange with his overly laid-back personality. It's as if he has not a single worry in the world, keeping a calm demeanor even in the most stressful situations. While usually this side of him holds true, there are times when his lack of care is nothing but an act. The Espurr is used to keeping his struggles to himself, hiding behind his lax attitude so others wouldn't worry about him. Despite the fact he tends to slack off when it comes to his work, the feline's actually smarter than he looks, able to solve seemingly difficult problems fairly easily. He never really used this intelligence though because he grew used to only completing the absolute minimum needed to pass his classes. Deejay just didn't care enough to aim high, an attitude he wishes to change as he continues his studies.

History:
Deejay's life had never been easy. Born as the youngest sibling in Castelia city, his family was poor, barely making enough money to pay their small apartment's rent. There were some days where he and his siblings would be the only ones eating a meal when their parents refused because they were "not hungry". He knew why as he got older and yet, he never mentioned it. No one did. Mutual understanding and all that.

His parents were already worrying too much about whether they have enough money to live the next day, so they didn't care how the Espurr was doing in school. As long as he didn't fail, it was good enough. Couple this with the fact that his brother and sister were busy with their own studies in college to look after him and Deejay wasn't exactly a great student. Hanging with the wrong crowd, he had done everything a 'mon in school /shouldn't/ do. Forgetting to turn in homework, skipping classes, not paying attention to the lessons. He barely scraped by with C's and D's. That wasn't even the worst of it.

During his last two years of high school, he and his friends would go to clubs. The Espurr was tall for his age, so all it took was a fake ID and he was in. Deejay partied like there was no tomorrow. Drinking, dancing, flirting, that kind of thing. He grew addicted to alcohol to the point where he'd borrow money from his parents for it if his friends wouldn't offer him any. At the time they didn't mind, not knowing his reason.

Course, he was found out eventually.

A fight broke out at the club one night and the police were called. They didn't only arrest the brawlers. Before Deejay knew it, he was sent to jail for underage drinking and false identification. Luckily for him his parents were able to bail him out quickly, taking a good chunk off their savings. They were disappointed. Not even mad, just disappointed. That's when they thought that something had to be done.

After barely completing high school, his parents got their son to work. As far away from any night club as possible. The Espurr got fired from some jobs due to his negligence until he became a cashier in a café. For a few years he and his family had been making money, saving up for what the Espurr truly needed. A higher education. Another chance to send him on the right track.

Once they felt they have enough money, his parents had him apply to colleges. It took plenty of applications before he was finally accepted into one in Hoenn. While it was far away from their own home it was well-known, so Deejay left Castelia to study in the institution. He still slacked off but he was much better off than he was before. He actually made an effort to hand in his homework on time, even if the work he did was minimal. He hung out with friends who weren't bad influences like the ones he had back in high school, yet he still gave himself time to study. The Espurr was even able to get a job in the local café as a barista. Things were looking good until the college shut down.

As soon as he informed his family of what happened, emails and letters were sent back and forth between them as they planned on what his next move would be. Going back home was not an option. He didn't have the funds for that. And even if he did, he felt terrible that so much time and effort was put into bringing him here only for him to return home. So the best Deejay could do was to continue to work until something else came up. And it did.

Months later there was word of another college accepting students, on an island that was in constant motion. As suspicious as it sounded, the Espurr was in need of an education, not exactly wanting to work in a coffee shop for the rest of his life. So with permission from his family to stay in Hoenn, he sent in an application to the college, hoping to get back to his studies again and maybe try not to slack off this time.
